Hacked to Start

Even before I had finished Thomas Manuel's The Spider And The City, I wanted to hack it. I enjoyed that game so much and was inspired to do a rewrite of my first playthrough (and likely more playthroughs in the future).

I've also played Rae Nedjadi's Tea With Demons quite a few times and loved the idea of chatting with demons over tea. After working on Soulmates: The Hands of Fate and browsing over an assortment of other tarot games, I was craving making even more pen-and-paper games that use tarot cards.

Fresh off of my first playthrough of The Spider And The City and working on a gift for some friends using tea & a similar self-care ritual to Tea With Demons, the thought occurred to me that I could make a game like The Spider And The City about a demon summoner and demons. The prompts and music from Tea With Demons and the journaling prompts of The Spider And The City could fuse into something with its own heart, and I could easily bring in the Persona-like connection between Tarot and demons/other supernatural beings.

Canva had plenty of beautiful "demon" and "tea" assets for free use, so in a fit one night, I modified much of the text of The Spider And The City and wrote up the rest to fill out a new game I called Hell's Last Summoner.

I'm nearly finished with it. I only have the Climax and the Epilogue to write. Then I'll let it rest for awhile and return to it with fresh eyes for some final edits, maybe pull some friends in to beta or playtest.
